This website is dedicated to showcasing my artwork and highlighting news and events of the art shows I participate in as well the new paintings that are available at my gallery location in Santa Fe, NM.
I have been a full time artist for over 41 years since my graduation from UT-Austin in 1983 with my degree in Fine Art.
Food for your Soul
For my entire artistic life, beginning in college and since, I have painted in two directions. I am a Gemini and it makes sense. My background is in realism where I am most comfortable and excelled at it using watercolor. But while in college I was exposed to more contemporary approaches in painting. Most I did not understand or enjoy but still they inspired me. Like many, Georgia O’Keefe’s work captivated my imagination and lead me to the Southwest. Over the last three decades I have always taken time to explore modernism, usually using acrylic paint. So even now as I continue to explore two directions, the acrylic allows me to create large more expressive paintings compared with my more realistic work in watercolor.
Not being limited to a certain style, subject or medium that can be dictated when showing in a group gallery, I am able in my own space to show my wide body or work …. The chains are off!
Having my own gallery over the years and now, on Canyon Road, is so exciting. I soon realized that I was meeting folks from all over the world, selling to collectors who I would otherwise never meet. It is a joy to know that my work is a blessing to the homes of all the people I have met over the years! Today my gallery In Santa Fe, where I am painting almost every day, provides a wonderful space to show as many as 50 pieces of work including my son Rowdy’s photography, as well as contemporary paintings by Santa Fe artist Gillian Spencer and Beth Schmohr! I invite you to drop by on your next visit to Santa Fe. Email or call ahead if your time is limited just in case… so I don’t miss your visit!
