While visiting Lubbock for an art event...I spent some morning hours at Texas' Palo Duro Canyon State Park. I was able to catch the calm and wonder of a sunrise from the rim, then drive into the Canyon to the trailhead for Lighthouse Rock. The trail is 3 miles one way....as it winds along the canyon floor over and through arroyos, along amazing mesas of color....until the final hundred yards where you are presented with a steep incline hike up a canyon wall to Lighthouse Rock.
